What is Communicator?

Communicator is a hosted telephony solution designed for multi-site small businesses that require powerful telephone features, reduced communications costs and improved productivity. A typical small business will have between 5 and 100 employees, with relatively straightforward communication needs, key system feature set requirements and limited budget for capital expenditure. Communicator is an effective answer to these requirements.

Network Access and CPE Routers

Access from the customer site is provided via a dedicated broadband or leased line connection to the Gamma Telecom network over a secure VPN tunnel.

The ‘network end-points’ are 1221 GE CPE routers, that are supplied as part of the Communicator service.

The Mitel IP Phones (see section below) which are used at the customer site is entirely controlled by the Gamma Communicator Application Server which uses Mitel's MiNet protocol.

IP Phones

A number of Mitel IP phones are available and supported as part of Communicator 3.0. These include the Mitel 5212, 5220 and 5224 IP Phones which all provide a high-quality user interface and audio experience.
